Should We Be Using Computer-Based Tests & Assessments

Computers have revolutionized assessment and testing. For instance, a quick search on-line yielded 347,000 hits for On-line Psychological test. Here are some of the issues with testing on-line:

1)  Security – To be sure that the people taking the test are who they say they are, have them come to your

location to take the test on-line. This is not as big of a concern if the assessment is for development.

2)  Image – Don’t get too hung up on how good you look by having your assessments on computer. It’s more

important to run your testing program smoothly.

3)  Validity – Our research shows that live and computer based simulations are equivalent and have the

same validity. You can view a presentation on this topic by clicking here.

4)  Return-On-Investment – If live and computer based tests have the same validity, then it is likely that

the computer based test will have a higher ROI. This is because computer based tests are usually less

expensive to administer. However, they do cost more to develop.

We’ve helped several companies decide whether or not to do their testing on-line. You can contact Warren Bobrow for more information on computer based testing and assessment.

Current Projects:  Do You Know When Your Turnover Is Coming?

Most companies know what their current turnover is, but how many know what their turnover will be? Right now we are involved in a project to help one of our client’s divisions plan for turnover so they can be more strategic in their recruiting. This assignment came about when we were able to help another department successfully anticipate and successfully plan for their turnover. For more information on predicting turnover you can contact Warren Bobrow.
